Photo tree
Is this not the coolest idea for photos? I want to do this in my living room. As soon as I own a house.

Fashion Obsession of the Day
Don't you just want to twirl around in this dress? Although reminiscent of a Laura Ashley dress circa 1981, it's easily made modern and chic with accessories like a bold pendant necklace and masculine boots. I'd throw a tailored leather jacket over it for even more edge.

Fashion Obsession of the Day
Hello. My name is Emily and I have an addiction. To stripes. And I'm not about to give it up because this top is adorable. The folded, oversized sleeves, keyhole back and longer length give this classic striped shirt a unique twist.

Too cold day
Snow days are one of the best things that can happen when you're a kid. But in the Northeast, we also have too cold days. Today it's negative six degrees and many of the local schools are closed. Well that's just not fair. I want a day to curl up inside and shut out the outside world. A day to watch reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gilmore Girls and eat peanut butter out of the jar. But that's why we're adults, I guess. We have to bundle up and go on with life.

Fashion Obsession of the Day
Vintage styles made modern are one of my favorite elements of style. But this button-front denim skirt hasn't changed in decades. In fact, I'm pretty sure my mom had the same one in the 70s. But styled correctly, it's timeless. Pair it with a tres Parisian striped top or a white tank with heeled oxfords and hello modern vintage.

Fashion Obsession of the Day
It might look like a simple silk shirtdress, but this frock has some killer details that set it apart. An asymmetrical snap neckline, sheer back panel and a leather belt make it a go-to dress for a night out or even a dinner date at the Cheesecake Factory.

Golden Globes Fashion
Did you watch the Golden Globes on Sunday? The show - and the fashion - was a bit bland. But Anne Hathaway sparkled on the red carpet in her Armani Prive paillette column gown. Thanks, Rachel Zoe.

Still here
Isn't this the cutest photo? I wish it was the season of bike rides, ice cream cones and picnic lunches. On a side note, I want to apologize for being a bit distant lately. I was reassigned at my job a few weeks ago and still haven't adjusted to the new beat and my Sunday through Thursday schedule. It's quite exhausting. I'm also finishing up my grad school application and - this is exciting - working on copy for my new website. It should be ready to go by March. In the meantime, I'm still here.

At first glance, I thought the print on this silk blazer was slices of cake (yeah, I don't have a sweet tooth ...). But upon further investigation, the jacket has hand-painted red triangles. Whether it's red velvet cake or plain old geometric shapes, I love the abstractness of it. Just don't judge me if you catch me licking the sleeve.

Fashion Obsession of the Day
As I'm typing this, there is a relentless blizzard happening outside my window. But I still have spring on my mind and green is in. It just so happens to be my favorite color, but one that is surprisingly lacking in my wardrobe. I better work on that.
Above (from top): Chloe Paratay Tote, $1,895 from Saks; Geren Ford slash shoulder dress, $320 from Shopbop: Signature silk blouse, $188 from Shopbop; Miu Miu polka dot blouse, $595 from Net-a-Porter; Julie Dillon shift dress, $178 from Nordstrom; Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo suede pumps, $795 from Net-a-Porter.

Fashion Obsession of the Day
Spring clothes are officially everywhere. Florals, bright colors and bare arms will soon be the norm again. Maybe that's just wishful thinking, but I wouldn't be able to get through Northeast winters without the dream of spring. Until then, this striped pocket tee will just have to hide under a boyfriend blazer. It's a simple shirt, but it's the kind of top that can't even make it to your closet you wear it so often.

Stressed
You know the test that gets you into grad school? Well I'm taking it tomorrow and I'm freaking out inside. Can someone remind me just what the hell algebra is? Hopefully my test score is a small percentage of my grad school application.

It's a cross ring. You know, just in case you come across a vampire this is much easier to shove into their flesh than a necklace.

Fashion Obsession of the Day
Oh resort collections, how you taunt us with your empty promises of balmy weather and tanned skin in the middle of winter. But this firework printed dress from Dolce Vita can be easily adapted to the current climate. Pair it with a black boyfriend blazer, fleece lined tights and that pair of flats you keep under your desk at work. Before you know it, bare legs will be back.

Best of 2010: Part One
2010 was the year of firsts. My first trip to Paris, London and Amsterdam, my first half marathon, first century bike ride, first surprise birthday party, first marathon, first time I've kept my hair anything than blonde for more than two weeks, first year I shopped without a credit card (well, for some of the year) and first year I went to NYC alone. If I tried, 2010 couldn't have been more memorable. Here are my favorite photos of the year (in semi-chronological order). Cheers to 2011 being even more fantastic.
