Fashion Obsession of the Day

This dress should have a slogan. Something like, "Eliminate mini dress ass cheek to chair stickage," or, "Pick up the pen you dropped on the floor without flashing your coworkers." Pair it with opaque tights and flat booties for a fab fall look.

Beautiful weekend

Beautiful weekend it was. This weekend I ran 18 miles, went to the lake to lay in the sun, made a road trip to Buffalo to score some serious deals ($50 for a pair of Elizabeth and James flats and $17 for J. Crew shorts) and watched way too much Mad Men. I hope Monday treats everyone just as good.

Fashion Obsession of the Day

I have a bone to pick with J. Crew. Don't get me wrong - I adore J. Crew. Their clothes are classic American with a ultra modern styling twist that literally makes me want to buy everything. Except these pieces.

Dear J. Crew,
Where do you get off thinking you can charge $500 for a sequin cami that resembles my junior prom dress?

And are you really trying to make people think it's socially acceptable to wear sweatpants with your sneaky styling? We know better, J. Crew. But the scary part is that some people don't. You have a fashion responsibility and I can't be walking the streets seeing people wearing tapered leg sweatpants with booties. But other than that, I heart you.

Fashion Obsession of the Day™

With buckles and straps and a 4.5 inch heel, these Mulberry booties will pair with just about any outfit and carry you from fall into the winter. Wear them with skirts and tights, or skinny jeans and a chunky cardigan. But if you're a frugal girl like me, I found a pair of similar buckle booties that are just cute and cheaper.

Fashion obsession of the day

The chilly weather has me daydreaming about sweaters. I'm sure I'll be eating my words by January, but until then, I can't wait to bundle up. And this Marc by Marc Jacobs chunky sweater is cozy and super chic. Bracelet sleeves, exaggerated funnel neck and a belted waist make this sweater the perfect piece for your fall wardrobe.

Beautiful Weekend

So sleepy. After a 20 mile run on Saturday morning, the rest of my weekend involved me laid out on the couch sleeping, then eating, then sleeping. This marathon training is monopolizing my weekends. I have about enough energy to take a shower and go grocery shopping, so I apologize for the lack of photos. Hope you have a great week. The rain in upstate New York makes me want to cuddle on the couch all day and watch rainy day movies (my favs are Breakfast at Tiffany's and Twilight), but I gotta work hard for the money.

Beautiful Friday

Notice anything different about the blog? Of course you do. Unless you're like one of those guys who doesn't even notice when his girlfriend chops her hair off and colors it red. It's subtle but just like the best fashion - it's the details that count.

Are you as excited for the weekend as me? I have a couple end of summer shindigs to attend, cupcakes to bake and a 20 mile run to conquer. Hopefully I can fit in some time to work on my screenplay (it's so close to being finished) and take an afternoon nap. Enjoy your weekend.

Normally I don't like super baggy, shapeless tops and dresses. But this silk paneled burnt orange and turquoise top is so unique I can't resist it. Pair it perfectly with opaque tights and boots - combat or over-the-knee.

Whoa. Layers of metallic silk leaves embellish this dress from DVF, and the effect is total drama. The leaves move with you as you walk, revealing the subtly printed yellow dress beneath. I'd love to see this effect in different hues - winter white and ivory (hello wedding dress) or orange and red to emulate fall leaves.

The simplicity of this thermal cowlneck top paired with the drama of the neckline and the super soft cotton makes it the perfect fall top. Or pair it with a pair of cuffed shorts for those cooler end of summer days.

Beautiful weekend

Considering my melancholy mood on Friday, my weekend couldn't have turned around any better. After an 18-mile run on Saturday morning, I ate lunch from my favorite sandwich shop (Open Face Sandwich) and napped all afternoon. Then, to my total surprise, I showed up at my surprise birthday party. My mom told me we'd celebrate with a dinner at one of our favorite bar/restaurants, Lovin' Cup, even though she never gave me a chance to choose. I never thought anything of it. But when I turned the corner, my family and friends were all there - even balloons and those adorable tissue paper flowers. My first thought was, "Thank goodness I wore makeup." I even broke my alcohol fast and drank an enormous Blue Moon. I want to thank my mom and my best friend Troy for throwing an amazing party and for reminding me how many people care about me. And thanks to everyone who came. You all mean the world to me. Turning 25 will be much easier now.

Beautiful Friday

Some days you just feel like the wind turned your umbrella inside out in the middle of a thunderstorm.

But the sun always comes back out.

Sometimes we all need to be reminded of this. This week, my sunshine was the relief I felt waking up this morning knowing it was Friday. It's a beautiful thing. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Fashion obsession of the day

I just realized I posted two mini skirt combos in the past two days - can you tell what I've been wearing lately? Here's something totally different. Could this bike necklace be any cuter? Now I can wear my love of bikes when I can't ride them.

Fashion obsession of the day

This silk blouse by Milly reminds me of Minnie Mouse. But the details - the exaggerated Peter Pan collar, the oversized embellished black buttons - are all lady. The styling on the runway look is spot on with the polka dot tights, but it would look just as cute with bare legs and frilly socks.

I want this entire outfit on my body. Now. The faux leather stretchy mini is perfectly balanced by the casual, oh-so-French striped tee. Madewell is officially my new favorite.

Beautiful weekend

Another weekend filled with kids and parties. I love them but am definitely looking forward to next weekend. I have no plans and I want to keep it that way. Hope you had a great weekend, and I hope I'm not the only one waiting for Friday already.

With a feminine twist on the military boot trend, these ankle boot wedges are a perfect alternative to the more masculine military look. These would look so cute over jeggings and a long sweater for fall, or with a ditsy floral print dress.

Holy chic. If Jackie O. and Victoria Beckham had a baby, it would come out wearing this Black Halo dress. And I just adore how the cut-out bodice is shaped like a heart. Sweet and sexy.

Beautiful weekend

This weekend was all about kids and dogs. I had to go to three parties and they all had sugar powered children in attendance. I've never been around so many kids since I was one myself. Normally I would have been annoyed, but I actually kind of liked being around them. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I no longer hate the idea of having one of my own. Of course it's a long way off, but it doesn't seem as scary as it used to. And sorry for being MIA yesterday. All I can tell you is that something big is in the works. And it's definitely not a baby.
