365 Days of Photos

I'm lacking some serious creative inspiration lately. The world seems to rush by, and in turn we miss out on the most beautiful things. I've decided to take a cue from some of my fellow bloggers and start a 365 Days of Photos project of my own. For a full year, every day, I'll post a new photo. It will force me to stop and take a break and appreciate the beauty in every day (not just Saturdays and Sundays). And force me to really focus on learning more about photography - something I love, but know very little about.

Day One

Jerrick waiting patiently to play tennis. I could not keep up with him on the court.

Fashion obsession of the day

It's 56 degrees outside this morning, and I am officially ready for fall. Last night I cuddled up on the couch with a book and a blanket, made apple crisp and slept with the comforter on my bed. And it's time for sweaters to start making an appearance. Here are some of my favorite new sweaters this season.

Fashion obsession of the day

As a girly-girl (I know, shocker), I'm a sucker for anything with exaggerated bows and flowers. Shoes, dresses, tops - just about anything with a girly adornment. So my heart skipped a beat when I saw these flower booties. And a 5 inch heel makes everything better.

Fashion obsession of the day

I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of cropped skinny jeans for months. On my last trip to Nordstrom, I threw my budget out the window and tried on every pair of cropped skinnies they had. It must have been at least 10 pairs of jeans. Still, nothing. Then, they appeared to me in the most unlikely of places: J. Crew. Their toothpick ankle jean is super dark, super skinny and the perfect length and fit. At $125 they were no bargain, but worth every penny because they fit so perfectly. I'm thinking I might actually have to buy another pair.

Love Kate

Kate Spade just debuted their Fall 2009 line of apparel and it is BANANAS (yes, I caught the premiere of the Rachel Zoe project last night). The pieces are Diane von Furstenberg meets Zooey Deschanel meets Mad Men. It's so fabulous I can't even stand it. In good old upstate New York, we don't get the good stuff, but I got to see it in the flesh while I was in San Diego. And it is gorgeous. The fabrics are luxe, the prints quirky (I fell in love with this silk Peter Pan blouse with a print of lips and cigarettes) and, of course, the prices out of my budget. I'm saving up to get out of dodge, which means no more fabulous fashion for a while. But a girl can drool, right?

More San Diego photos

San Diego is officially my second favorite city - next to New York, of course. We drank too much imported beer, ate too much guacamole and basked in the sun too long - everything a vacation should be. Now if only I could find a writing job out there, I'd pick up everything and never look back.

Fashion obsession of the day

Why don't I have this in my closet yet? This floral print one shoulder dress is the perfect dress to throw with flip-flops for a Saturday afternoon stroll or with leather booties and bold jewelry for a night out. I wish I was wearing it tonight to see Blink-182 (my favorite band ... ever!).

Fashion obsession of the day

When you're out - for dinner, at a wedding, grabbing a cocktail - doesn't it always seem like your arms are the first part to get cold? I despise shawls (the word alone makes me shudder), which is why I love long sleeved mini dresses. This silk emerald green mini dress keeps your arms warm (it is almost fall!) and shows off your sexy legs. The mini's richness - in color and fabric - and versatile ruffles make it a piece you can wear through the seasons and hang in your closet for years to come.

This shirt is exactly how I'm feeling. Vacation, here I come! See you soon lovelies!

Vacation

Tomorrow begins my blogging hiatus until next Wednesday when I come back from San Diego. Every time I think about the city, I just want to call it "The Whale's Vagina." Thanks Ron Burgundy.

Meet Brooklyn

Since my memory card adapter is up and running, I've got lots of photos to share. But I thought I'd start out by introducing my favorite subject: my cat, Brooklyn. She loves sitting on papers and in boxes, on my pillow when I'm sleeping and chasing after my hair ties. She's full-figured - not fat - and loves bacon.

Life is a miracle

Welcome to the world Talia Marie. This is my dear friend Gina's baby the day she came home from the hospital. Just beautiful.

Did you know Dolce Vita designs clothes as well as fabulous, affordable shoes? This dove grey dress from their apparel collection is so unique with its dreamy forest animal print and mix of feminine ruffles and masculine zipper-front. Perfect for the last warm days before the fall air moves in.

Hard Rocking in San Diego

I'm leaving for San Diego this Thursday(!), so I'll be taking a bit of a blogging break after Wednesday. But I'll still be posting photos of my trip while I'm there. Matt (my bf who I don't think I've introduced yet - more to come) and I have friends since middle school who moved out there in January. We don't have any big plans yet - besides going on a guacamole binge. And that's exactly what I like my vacations to be - organic and spontaneous. But I did just find out I'll be going to a pool party bachelorette party on Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel. Bikinis, Champagne and who knows what else! (Here's a pic of where the party will be.)

Fashion obsession of the day: Men's edition

I love a man in a pea coat. It looks so chic, so put together. Or maybe it could have something to do with my affinity for a man in uniform? Either way, this cropped pea coat is a perfect jacket for fall.

Fashion obsession of the day

When I was in Las Vegas two summers ago (yes, summer-I love the heat!), I fell in love with this cream silk mini tuxedo dress. It was one of those dresses you try on and feel like the sexiest girl in the room. But it was $350. And I just graduated from college. I talked some sense into myself by not giving in to the glamour of the store and the gay salesman telling me I looked "freaking fabulous, honey." But I found myself dreaming about the dress after leaving. And to this day I regret not making the investment. I've tried to find the dress online - or even a close replica - but nothing has ever come close. Except this one.

Creamy, dreamy dress

Oh please tell me where I can find this gorgeous Stella McCartney dress (modeled by the always beautiful Ashlee Simpson). If I was a bride, I would so add this to my list of potential wedding dresses.

Could this romper be any cuter? The scottie dog print bodice and culotte bottom channel the Lolita look. So cute with a pair of red Wayfares or even heart-shaped sunglasses.

Fashion obsession of the day

Usually I'm not a fan of crazy tights, but these fishnets are so unique and sexy. I love them with a faux leather mini and booties.

Fashion obsession of the day

I know, I know it's only August. But the fall looks are trickling in, and these sheepskin flats from UGG are a must have. I have to walk into work, so I'm always trudging through the snow in my UGGs. But they're just so warm I never end up taking them off once I get to the office. Now I can change into their little sister of a flat and be just as cozy at my desk.

What would Blair wear?

This dress is so Blair Waldorf I can't even stand it. I know, I know Marc Jacobs, again? But seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if Miss Blair herself isn't sporting this on the upcoming season of Gossip Girl - with one of her signature headbands, of course.

Men's fashion finds

I received a great idea from a male friend of mine to start incorporating male fashion obsessions into my daily blog. There's nothing sexier than a well-dressed man, so I figured why not share my favorite male fashion finds, too. (Right now, I am LOVING a slim cardigan and a pair of distressed jeans and crisp, white sneakers.) To kick things off, here are a few of my favorite pieces and looks. And guys, these looks are the equivalent of walking a puppy through Central Park - girls will swoon.
