Fashion obsession of the day

Oh Marchesa. You are killing me slowly with these amazing dresses. This black silk organza cocktail dress is a luxurious beauty. The ruched bodice is classic, while the ruffled skirt (that looks like spring tulips to me) is all drama. Now I just have to find a place to wear it (yeah right).

Fashion obsession of the day

It is way too early to be thinking about swimsuits. But a ruffled bikini from Marc by MJ? How can I resist?

Beautiful weekend

This weekend marked my official return to the public market. I just love bustling open air markets this time of year. Everyone is so anxious for the warm weather to return and the produce is so fresh. Needless to say, there was lots of people watching this weekend with the gorgeous weather. I also tested out some road bikes since I can't use my pink cruiser when I race this summer. And lots of packing - including Brooklyn who obviously wants to come with me.

Fashion obsession of the day

Shorts and I have never been friends. Skirts and sundresses are my summer staples, and although there's nothing wrong with them, I've been longing to give shorts another chance. Well ladies, I found the perfect pair. At my biweekly trip to Anthropologie, I tried on these shorts in a "oh what the hell moment." Turns out they're the perfect length (that don't cut your thighs in half), comfy cotton, ass flattering and overall adorable. Welcome back, shorts.

Fashion obsession of the day

I just die for this color combination. The details on this contrasting orange and turquoise silk racerback dress are so subtle and chic - the sweetheart neckline, piped black side slits and waist-cinching belt. This is the perfect dress to invest in for all those summer you'll be attending. Just be careful - you might look better than the bride.

Fashion obsession of the day

This lingerie inspired dress is what Courtney Love would have looked like if she stayed away from drugs. I've always had a secret love of the slutty Lolita look she made famous, but she was always such a hot mess. This look is the way it should be done - the nude color, the contrasting lace and cinched waist. Just skip the smeared lipstick.

Whoa. This dress is beyond gorgeous. If I was going to get married tomorrow, I would wear this in a heartbeat. The crystal adorned corseted bodice, sexy shape and dramatic fan shoulder are details to die for. Yes it's luxury Wednesday, but if you ask me, $730 for this dress is a beautiful bargain - especially considering wedding dresses can cost an outrageous amount.

Fashion obsession of the day

It's almost sandal season! Can you contain your excitement? (Obviously I can't.) The gladiator trend from last summer has spilled over into this season, and I have no complaints. But I wore out my Sam Edelman's from last year, so I must find a new pair to wear daily. These gold, back zip sandals from DV by Dolce Vita will make the perfect replacement.

Beautiful weekend

Wow where did this weekend go? I feel like we lost an entire day - not just an hour. Friday night I went out on the town, but I was cranky and I'm not drinking right now, so I wasn't much fun. Saturday night I co-hosted a charity fashion show and Sunday a whole lot of nothing (except for baking these brownies). And I don't know about you but I am tired with a capital T. Hopefully we will all get back on schedule tomorrow.

Isn't this dress just gorgeous? Mesh and lace cutouts like these are everywhere this spring and they're so chic and fancy.

Fashion obsession of the day

My new favorite Web site probably also has one of the best names, ever: Nasty Gal. Their edgy mix of new (and affordable) apparel and vintage pieces is perfect for the party girl in all of us. And guess what they have? Bunny ears! Ever since spotting them on runway at the Louis Vuitton show last year, I've been searching endlessly for a toned-down (and less expensive) version. But I probably only have a window of about three months to wear these until they show up in Forever 21 and are appearing on the heads of teenagers everywhere.

Fashion obsession of the day

All you fellow fashionistas know when you're bargain hunting, it's all about the details. Sure luxe fabrics feel amazing on your skin and last forever, but we all can't afford an entire wardrobe of investment pieces. Whether you're at Forever 21 or Target, finding pieces with rich details are what make them look expensive. That's why I love this cream, drapey dress from Mod Cloth. The lace shoulders, bohemian feel and, of course, the draping, make this dress look way more expensive then it is.

Fashion obsession of the day

Is it Wednesday already? This week is just flying by. And Wednesday is always the easiest day for me to find my fashion obsession - no price restrictions! This chevron striped/ruffled strapless dress from Herve Leger is stunningly sexy. With shimmering rhinestones and a super snug fit, this dress would never fail. Make it in a nude hue and you've got yourself a naked dress. But how can this only come in extra small and small? That's a bit discriminatory don't ya think? I'm a small girl, but I have this feeling I'm at least a medium in an Herve Leger. Not that I can afford a $3,900 dress, but still.

Fashion obsession of the day

My Euro trip is just two weeks away (!) and I'm still desperately searching for the perfect coat for 50 degrees and rainy weather. I love the military inspired outerwear trend, and this coat from Free People has all the great military details and the perfect fatigue color. But what's stressing me out even more is if the women of Paris are into this trend. Will I fit in or will I fail miserably? The stress is of choosing my outfits is driving me nuts.

Fashion obsession of the day

Just loving this multi-stand turquoise necklace by Kenneth Jay Lane (who I think makes the most modern, and quite reasonably priced, jewelry around). Pair it with a plain t-shirt for instant glam.

Fashion obsession of the day

I'm sure my love of New York City is pretty evident by now. It's been my dream to live there since I was 10 years old; I close my eyes and dream of brownstones and yellow taxis ... it's a dream that will never leave me. But back to fashion. The simple shape of this silk dress is made truly unique with the watercolor print of Central Park in the summer and Rockefeller Center's famous blooming tulips. Must. Buy.

The simple shape of this modern, colorblocked oxford shirt by Free People is easy to wear and so chic. Throw it on over a pair of super skinny jeans or leggings paired with a bold pair of pumps or boots and you're off.

Fashion obsession of the day

I love this sexy new trend of oversized, menswear-inspired blazers as dresses. This sequined blazer dress from 3.1 Philip Lim is the perfect glamourous party dress. And at the equivalent of one month's rent, has little investment potential, but she sure is pretty. Happy luxury Wednesday.

Fashion obsession of the day

I gave up on Victoria's Secret clothes a long time ago. I'd order a crap ton of stuff from their Web site and send nearly everything back. Either nothing fit right, the material was cheap or the style was off. But this romper has me thinking I'll give them another try. The blue tribal print and corset inspired bodice is the perfect combination of cute, sexy and stylish. And at $58, why not?

Beautiful weekend

Here's how my weekend went: gym, Target, grocery shopping, cooking, shoveling. Needless to say, my camera didn't get as much love as it should have.

Fashion obsession of the day

So apparently all the chic French women are wearing these casual sneakers by Bensimon (no, not like Kelly Bensimon, the awful human from The Real Housewives of NYC). As you can tell from my last few posts, I'm desperately trying to search for pieces that will help me blend in with the beautiful, stylish women of Paris. These sneakers will also be a sensible choice when walking for miles a day.
