Fashion obsession of the day

Lately I've got Paris on my mind. I'm hoping this is the year I'll finally be able to take a trip to Paris - sip cappuccinos and munch on chocolate filled croissants while I write my book sitting at charming outdoor cafes. This adorable Eiffel Tower tee might help hold me over.

Fashion obsession of the day

Quite possibly the cutest dress ever. This striped strapless dress is embroidered with classic airplanes. It makes the perfect summer wedding dress (you can never plan too far ahead). In fact, I can think of an entire wedding theme around it. Can't you just picture all the bridesmaids wearing this dress, the groomsmen wearing mini planes as boutineers, gourmet peanuts as favors, paper airplanes floating from the ceiling ... it would be lovely.

Photo Fail

I hate when I clean because things always seem to get lost. Now I've misplaced my memory card adapter when I was going to post some beautiful photos from my holiday weekend. I'm running late for work so I'll have to suspend my search until tonight. Until then, enjoy this adorable photo of Wendy, my favorite blogger Kate's cat. She looks like Brooklyn's twin.

Fashion obsession of the day

If I cared at all about going out for New Year's Eve, I would wear this sequin mini dress. The discs of sequins look like mini disco balls (so shiny!) and the sleeves are definitely a plus. As a Northeastern girl, I just can't see the point of a strapless party dress in the middle of winter. Do you have your party dress picked out?

Fashion obsession of the day

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I got the best gift ever - a restored 1962 Schwinn bike. And it's pink! (Pictures to come.) Anyway, along with today's fashion eye candy. Isn't this ruffled silk chiffon top from Ella Moss so romantic? And the rich blue color makes the ruffles look like ocean waves.

Dear Santa,
If you're reading this, and still need to get me a gift, please bring me these Dolce Vita booties. I've been good this year (except for my barrage of f-bombs and occasional bitchiness). I promise I'll leave you some amazing cookies.
xoxo,
Emily

Sex and the City 2 Trailer

As much as I despise the idea of Hollywood milking the Sex and the City franchise for more money, the giddy girl in me is loving the trailer. But at this point, isn't it really just about the wardrobe? What do you think?

Fashion obsession of the day

Do you have an outfit picked out for Christmas? I usually just hang out in my sweatpants, but since I'm a hostess this year, I want to look fabulous - and not like I just had flour on my face and was running around the kitchen like a Top Chef contestant. I have a dress in mind from my closet, but wouldn't this festive silk dress be perfect?

Holiday blues

My lovely readers, I am in a bit of a funk today and I can't quite explain why. I think watching Garden State last night might have something to do with it - that movie always makes me think about about my future, even though the message of the movie is just to live it. I didn't even pick up my camera at all this weekend I've been so unmotivated. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something I haven't quite figured out yet. In any case, enjoy this beautiful photo of a fabulous European woman glamorizing smoking.

I know, I know - it's a dog sweater. But it's just so cute. And it's definitely not like those ugly cat sweaters you see women wearing when you run to Wal-Mart for mascara. God, no. This sweater has a modern shape, a back zip detail and a face you can't refuse.

Need a sexy last minute gift for your guy? These French Lesson Panties from luxury lingerie designer Kiki de Montparnasse are super sexy and romantic - and a gift for you, too (those are always the best!). These translate to "Love me," but there are some x-rated phrases available, too.

Don't you just love the new jewelry collection from Alexis Bittar? The gold cut-outs and bold semi-precious stones can turn even the simplest outfits special.

Fashion obsession of the day

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today and all I want to do is stay curled up at home and wear this grown-up onesie. Doesn't it remind you of the ones you wore when you were a kid? I do wish it had feet, though.

Sparkle! Shine! Sorry, I just love all things glitzy. This sequin blazer is an easy way to dress up an outfit - especially for the holiday season. And the relaxed fit and pockets are fabulous, modern details.

Beautiful Weekend

Can you believe there's only 11 days until Christmas? This weekend was dotted with me frantically hunting for gifts and checking off a few people on my list. But I still have to find gifts for my boyfriend and my mom. I always love finding the perfect gift, and I haven't found them yet. Friday, I went bowling with some co-workers - which I thought would be less than exciting - but I actually had a really great time (and I think they enjoyed laughing at my horrendous bowling skills). On Saturday, we rented Up, and it was such a magical movie. Sunday, I made a cloth garland for my fireplace (instructions here), made a failed attempt at Parisian Macarons (tip: do NOT use boxed egg whites) and wrapped presents. Now I really have to get crackin' on some online shopping.

There's nothing like a timeless leopard print trench as a sexy, bold statement piece. And who could do it than Marc Jacobs? The styling from the folks at Shopbop is absolutely perfect for this look, too - the tights, the booties - it makes me want to wear the trench as a dress. So saucy.

These mittens from Kate Spade warm my heart - and my hands. They are just the most adorable mittens I've ever seen. The sunshine yellow color matches the color of NYC taxis and I'm sure would bring a smile to even the crabbiest cabbies. And if you have a girlfriend who lives in NYC, these would make such a cute gift.

Fashion obsession of the day

I am so into this dolman sleeve dress. It's so simple and just begging to be styled. A statement necklace, over the knee boots, a studded belt - whatever accessories you want to add to give it your personal touch. And leave it to American Apparel to make the photo look like amateur porn. I guess that's part of the charm?

DVF Don't

Diane von Furstenberg can do no wrong - 99 percent of the time. Her sophisticated wrap dresses, bold, whimsical prints and feminine fit are timeless. Every girl should have at least one DVF piece in their wardrobe they'll keep forever. Except for these jeans. WTF, DVF? Did one of your designers convince you over a couple cosmos that paint-splattered white jeans are a piece every girl has to have? I'll forgive you this time, seeing as this beautiful dress is in the same collection.

Wearing these sequin pumps equates bombshell status. The 4 1/2 inch heel and the sparkly sequin are oh so sexy - perfect with a holiday cocktail dress or to dress up cropped skinny jeans. But I suspect these shoes will need some serious breaking in before running around in them.

A dress with a city skyline? Sold. And as much as I love the shape of a classic shift dress, I would advocate taking this one to the tailor to shorten the hem.

Fashion obsession of the day

Mini dresses are my favorite go-to item of clothing. A girl's gotta show off her best feature, right? But as the hemline gets shorter, it can be difficult to keep it demure. Which is why I love this mini floral silk dress. The asymmetrical shirttail hem is super short and sexy in the front and bend-over friendly in the back.

Fashion obsession of the day

For some reason, I feel like I absolutely need to have a sequin mini skirt in my closet. They're everywhere. And all I really want is to wear one with an oversized t-shirt and a pair of Chuck Taylors. Cute, right? So instead of spending way too much money on a piece I'll probably wear twice, I love this super affordable version from Forever 21.

Fashion obsession of the day

The new trend in two-in-one dresses is so easy to love. They make dressing up and looking chic so easy. This 70s inspired frock reminds me of TV dinners and roller skates for some reason, with its retro color scheme and double breasted buttons. But it also looks so modern, with a sexy pencil skirt bottom and cuffed sleeves. Pair it with a pair of funky tights and lace-up oxford heels like these.

This morning I woke up to snow on the ground. Although I'm not a fan of winter, I do love the first snow of the season. And now all I can think about are cozy sweaters. This feather applique sweater from Leifsdottir is just so beautiful. And is it just me, or does it look like you could fly away wearing it?

Beautiful Vacation

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. I spent my holiday with my family in Virginia loving on my family's now deaf dog, Basil, reading, taking naps and drinking wine. It was fantastic. And the countryside is so beautiful there. And at night, it looks straight out of a spooky novel, like something will jump out of the woods at any moment.

Don't you just love the start of the holiday season? Family, decorations, desserts - it's just the best time of the year. Now it's time to get cracking on shopping for gifts. Oy.

Ladies, meet the Hipster Lumberjack. Isn't he adorable? This Buffalo plaid jacket would also make a perfect gift for the trendy man in your life.

Happy Thanksgiving

Don't you just love this print? It reminds me of just how important it is for us to stay true to ourselves and quit worrying if someone doesn't like it. And the colorful leaves remind me of fall.

I'm off to Virginia to visit my family, so I'll be taking a little break from the blog until next week. It's the first time in at least two years we've all been able to get together at the same time, so I can't wait. Hopefully we won't drive each other crazy. Have a fabulous Thanksgiving, and don't go too crazy shopping on Friday - even if Saks is having a sale.

Breathe.

OK, sorry. I had to contain myself from a non Twilight induced hysteria over this dress. Designed by Alice + Olivia, who makes the best cocktail dresses ever, this sculptural strapless dress is breathtakingly gorgeous. Perfect for a holiday party or for the bold bride paired with these Christian Louboutin jeweled slingbacks. This might just be my favorite outfit yet.
