OMG these sleeves! This leopard print top is instant drama. I love it paired with a pencil skirt for a sexy Gaga meets Mad Men look.

I heart resort collections. When they start to appear, I envision sunning on the beaches of St. Tropez and sipping Champagne on private yachts. These looks are definitely perfect for a mid-winter escape.

Clear skies

Isn't this umbrella fantastic? You look up and the rainy day has disappeared.

Fashion obsession of the day

I haven't been quick to join the jumpsuit bandwagon. It's not like I don't like them, it's just that they seem so impractical. But this sparkly silk jumpsuit from Rebecca Taylor is one I can get behind. I love the cropped length - so perfect to show off your new booties. Throw a leather jacket over it and you've got yourself a chic and fall friendly look.

Beautiful Weekend

Another weekend gone by way too fast. Saturday Matt and I were running around town to get the materials to make a faux leather headboard. When the Yankees game got rained out, we stayed home and rented movies (Transformers 2 and Once - can you guess which one each of us picked?). I did my best to help with the headboard on Sunday, but power tools are no friend for the accident prone. It's probably better I kept clear because Matt did such a great job it looks like we bought it from Crate and Barrel. So instead, I made a tulle studded bracelet I saw on P.S. I Made This. Brooklyn was terrified of all the noise, so she hid under the coffee table. Hope you had a beautiful weekend, too.

This slinky, nude jersey dress is so ridiculously sexy. It reminds me of the "Naked Dress" Carrie wears when she goes on the first date with Big on Sex and The City. This would be the perfect lucky dress - it'll work every time. But the downside to wearing it? You probably can't eat that piece of cheesecake after dinner.

Fashion obsession of the day

Dear Marc Jacobs,
I think I love you. Everything you design (seriously, everything) makes me weak in the knees and makes me want to clear out my savings account. This purple cross-body bag in eggplant is so chic and casual (and so me!). Everytime I think I can resist you, you make it entirely too difficult. You are making my shopping ban next to impossible to follow.
xo,
Emily

Fashion obsession of the day

Is this not the perfect holiday dress? Alice + Olivia makes the most modern and gorgeous dresses, and this LBD is super chic, with semi-deconstructed silk chiffon panels and a kiss of rhinestones for sparkle. This is the dress you wear when you want to make an entrance and have a glass of Champagne in your hand all night.

Fashion obsession of the day

Now that's it's cold just about every morning I crawl out of bed, all I want to do is slip on a pair of my favorite jeans and a comfy sweater. So I really need this cashmere henley sweater from J. Crew. I love the chunky buttons and the slim shape. I hope the sleeves are longer than they look in the picture - I'm always pulling down the sleeves on my sweaters to keep my hands cozy warm.

Fashion obsession of the day

Why wasn't this adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs t-shirt dress (I know I'm such a brand whore) available this summer? I spent half of the season searching for the perfect short-sleeved cotton dress. But because it's fall, the dress would also go perfectly with black tights and a leather jacket. The print on the dress looks like stripes, but it's actually the Marc by MJ brand name scrolled over and over like a chalkboard at detention.

Beautiful Weekend

Once again another weekend gone by way too fast. The weather in upstate New York was crisp to say the least - I finally retired my flip-flops until Spring. Friday I saw Where The Wild Things Are with my friend Troy, and in one word it was magical. It was the kind of movie that was shot so beautifully, you want to just take time to look at everything on the screen. Saturday I fell asleep on the couch watching the Yankees game and Sunday Matt and I went to Kelly's Apple Farm. I remember going there as a kid, and I haven't been in probably 20 years. Everything was as I remembered it, except for this amazing apple crisp served with soft ice cream. We sat by the fire and drank apple cider. It was a perfect Sunday.

Fashion obsession of the day

Ooh la la! This tuxedo inspired dress from Thread Social screams Parisienne chic. Wear this to a holiday party and everyone will be jealous of how chic you look. Channel Betty Draper for your hairstyle and voila - you'll seriously stop traffic.

Fashion obsession of the day

When you believe an Herve Leger bandage dress is a wardrobe essential, you might have a fashion addiction. I definitely do. The label's bandage dresses have me convinced I need one. It would be an investment - a dress I'll wear for years and years to dinners, weddings, everywhere. I tried one on in NYC and I could barely leave the dressing room I was so in love. It took everything not to whip out my credit card and make it mine. But I'm still trying to save money, so I'll just have to abstain. Herve Leger is such a heartbreaker.

Fashion obsession of the day

I love bold accessories. I love hair accessories. This vintage flower comb from ban.do's new Black Label makes a beautiful statement. I could see a bride wearing this on her wedding day or why not wear it on a Wednesday with a flowy blouse and skinny jeans? Whimsical, boho and bold, this hair accessory will turn heads.

Another Marc by Marc Jacobs masterpiece. And it just so happens to be a long-sleeved mini - another one of my favorites.

Fashion obsession of the day

Could this ruffle mini get any more adorable? I tried one on last weekend and fell in love with it. But when and where will it wear it? I'm not a party girl (anymore), and it's already closing in on winter. Maybe when it goes on sale I'll add it to my wardrobe ... just in case I find somewhere to wear it.

This could be the perfect party dress. The sequin racerback, ruffles and mini length are so sexy and so chic. Everyone loves a sequin, right?

Fashion obsession of the day

Can I marry these Louboutin boots? If I owned these I would wear them to the grocery store, out to dinner and vacuuming my living room - 'till death do we part. These must be the boots Taylor wore walking in NYC on The Rachel Zoe Project. When I saw them on her, I could barely breathe they were so beautiful. But until my big raise (ha!), lusting after them will have to do.

Beautiful Weekend

Friday I took off from work to attend a charity luncheon for my professor and mentor - and to hunt down cheap accessories at the mall. It was a total fail, but I finally found the perfect faux leather motorcycle jacket. Saturday I was up at 7 a.m. baking cupcakes for Matt's mom's birthday party. I had everyone over for a taco bar - so delish. And Sunday, I spend the entire day reading about 3/4 of the third Twilight book, Eclipse. I only have 200 pages to go. For a perfect three-day weekend, it went by way too fast.

Fashion obsession of the day

I despise malls. I love shopping, but I can't stand digging through racks of crappy clothes while bitter middle-aged women and 16-year-olds push me out of the way. This Friday I was on the hunt for some new accessories, so I had no other choice but to go. Finding cute accessories was a complete fail (H&M, you disappoint me), but I found the perfect faux leather motorcycle jacket from Forever 21 and an Herve Leger-inspired bandage skirt from ... Express. I never go in that store - I think it's quite overpriced, but I found this skirt buried in the back and I love it. I'm wearing it with a pink tank top, my new motorcycle jacket and booties. Cute, right?

Fashion obsession of the day

I think by now you know about my love of long sleeve mini dresses. They're just so functional and chic for all seasons. Bare legs in the summer, tall boots or booties and stockings for every other season (it's cold close to Canada). This silk mini dress from Banana Republic is a perfect, easy shape with a super modern detail: an exposed back zipper. And it's just screaming for a statement necklace.

Lingerie for days ...

Sure leather and masculine inspired shapes are in, but femininity is making a serious comeback. Sexy boudoir inspired looks are making their way into fall wardrobes and I love, love, love them. Here are some of Shopbop's lingerie looks from their always innovative lookbook collections.
