Fashion obsession of the day

I want to be wearing this sweater. Right. Now. And every day during the winter. I'm really into this all black look lately (I think I'm mourning the loss of my early 20s) and I'll be wearing this with black skinny jeans, black leather riding boots and a hint of color with some gold rings.

Fashion obsession of the day

I've been in love with this Diane von Furstenberg dress ever since I saw Blake Lively wear it to an appearance on David Letterman. (Of course, I've never found a DVF dress I haven't fallen in love with.) The rich raspberry hue and one shoulder shape are so chic. Wear it with a leather motorcycle jacket to keep your bare arm warm and studded booties. So gorge!

Beautiful Weekend

Sorry folks, no pic this weekend. Matt was in New York City for the Yankees versus Boston game and I let him take my camera. I spent the weekend watching movies and drinking wine by myself. It felt so relaxing. I saw Twilight for the first time and loved it. Now I'm reading New Moon and will probably be sitting in the movie theater with a bunch of 14-year-old girls come November. On Saturday I went with my good friend Troy to the Cheesecake Factory. Believe it or not, I've never been there before. Now I'm having dreams about these avocado rolls we had. Yum! The rest of the weekend was pure laziness.

Fashion obsession of the day

This citrus hued silk dress is oh so feminine, with its understated sweetheart neckline and flowy skirt. It reminds me of the dresses I dreamed of twirling around in when I was a girl playing dress-up.

Fashion obsession of the day

I love how easy this embroidered tunic is. Throw it on with a pair of ankle skinny jeans or leggings and your favorite flats and it's instant chic. And no wonder I like it - it's from Rachel Zoe's picks.

Fashion obsession of the day

On the fabulous blog, Jen Loves Kev, Jen's Style File features a photo of her adorable outfit for the day. This girl has some serious style. And she's an amazing bargain hunter - she's even found pieces at Wal-Mart. Yesterday, Jen had this adorable outfit on, and now I'm completely in love with wearing over the knee socks with boots. She found hers at Target, and you better believe I'll be there this weekend to buy a pair.

Fashion obsession of the day

I just love me a sequin. This velvet shift dress from Diane von Furstenberg is so decadent and sparkly. And I bet you can even check your hair in the mirrored paillettes.

Fashion obsession of the day

Flannel is back in a big way. Not like 90s grunge flannel, but chic, modern flannel. And for men and women. I saw this flannel shirt while looking at the new J. Crew catalog - which of course I want everything in it. But this one's for the guys. Pair it with cuffed, dark jeans and white Converse sneakers.

Beautiful weekend

On Friday afternoon I left work early and wrote from home - such a luxury. On Saturday it was pure laziness: grocery shopping and a True Life marathon on MTV. Sunday morning I ran five miles, baked apple crisp and half moon cookies (not as good as the ones from Wegmans) and then Matt and I went to the driving range. Can you tell I'm horrible at golf?

P.S. Do you like the name for my weekend photos? It was such an obvious choice it took me three weeks to come up with it.

Fashion obsession of the day

I've always been a chunky necklace kind of girl, but I'm starting to realize that bold rings might be the perfect accessory. They add personality and sparkle to an outfit without taking away from the clothes. Here are some of my favorites. Can you tell I love gold?

Lazy Sunday

Don't you just love Sundays? Waking up way too late, eating pancakes when you're supposed to be off carbs, catching up on your DVR, reading 100 pages in a book and filling your online shopping cart at Saks but never buying a thing. Tomorrow I'll post some photos I took over the weekend. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Oh, Oscar!

Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2010 is nothing less than genius.

Fashion obsession of the day

This is my second post about new designer Rachel Gilbert. Her gowns are super feminine, chic and have a touch of sparkle. This cream and white ruffle gown is no different. But the best part about this Aussie's dresses? They cost much less than say an Herve Leger or Oscar de la Renta gown. And this one makes a totally affordable wedding dress, too.

Ba-nanas.

So I know I posted the Marc Jacobs Collection yesterday, but I just can't resist sharing my favorite looks from the Marc by Marc Jacobs runway show. It's incredible. The looks are Gossip Girl preppy chic and totally wearable. And the big bow headbands are adorable. Blair Waldorf, anyone? I am definitely going to be rocking Marc by MJ this spring.

365 Days of Photos: Day Sixteen

This tree is a wise, old man.

Fashion obsession of the day

Marc Jacobs always puts on a show during fashion week, and his Spring 2010 collection was no exception. Here are some of his best looks from the runway.

365 Days of Photos: Day Fifteen

Dressing cute = a positive attitude, so today I started a promise to love my outfit every day, which will hopefully also make me love walking out the door in the morning.
Dress: Anthropolgie, $125
Shoes: Target, $6.50
Bracelets: H&M

I've already missed some days in my 365 Days of Photos project, but I have successfully taken photos every day - I just haven't had time to post them. I'll post when I can, and next week will definitely mark the beginning of my to be named weekend photo journal.

Where are all the fashionistas?

Living in upstate New York (Great Lakes upstate) is, well, disappointing. Our weather isn't conducive to planning an outfit (in the morning all you want to do is bundle up, but by the time the day's over you're sweating through your cashmere), people tend to be conservative and - most importantly - can't dress to save their lives. Now I'm not saying there aren't some fabulous fashionistas walking around town, but they are few and far between. And if you're one of the stylish select few, you stick out like a blonde girl in Chinatown. And they stare you down, too.

So yesterday marked the debut of Anna Sui's Gossip Girl inspired line for Target. I proudly set my alarm on a Sunday morning to make sure I'd be the first in line at the only Target in town to carry the line. Except when I got there at 8 a.m., not one other girl was waiting at the doors. There was one girl in the dressing rooms trying on some of the pieces, but she wasn't just there for Anna Sui. I was so disappointed. I guess I expected it to be cutthroat - like a sample sale with running and grabbing three sizes at a time. Just another reason why I don't belong upstate. But downstate, I'll get there soon.

Here are the two pieces I picked up. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the grey dress or not. If anyone is interested in it, let me know.

Fashion obsession of the day

I love, love, love this jersey turtleneck from the luxe -T-shirt line Splendid. The forest green fall color, the deep pockets and flowy hem. It's the perfect top to throw on with skinny jeans and leather riding boots for a cool, fall day.

Fashion obsession of the day

I love just about every piece in Thread Social's fall collection. Especially this Blair Waldorf-esque dress. It also reminds me of a morning after outfit - throwing on a boyfriend oxford shirt with your mini dress from the night before. So sexy.

365 Days of Photos: Days Five-Nine

One of my favorite bloggers, Kate from For Me, For You, has a genius and gorgeous collection of weekly photos called "Bits of my weekend." I'm thinking about including a version on my blog as well, but I can't think of a cute name without totally stealing Kate's idea. I just wanted to let you know this section is still a work in progress. But for now, here are some of my favorite photos I took over the long weekend.

Fashion obsession of the day: For the guys and the gals

So I know you're thinking I'm crazy - this is a men's shirt. But not just any shirt. It is Marc by Marc Jacobs, after all. But it has so much potential as a chic shirt for men and women. I spotted it in the new Saks men's catalogue and died for it. Matt's genius idea was that if we buy it, we can share it and then it would only be half the price (love him). He could wear it with jeans, and I could wear it with leggings and a black leather belt. Is it crazy or fabulous?

Fashion obsession of the day

Ever since I saw Taylor on The Rachel Zoe Project sporting her gaudy, gold Rolex, I've been dying for one. Obviously not a Rolex, but I love this Michael Kors version. I think it might actually be a men's watch - which is even better. Why is this not adorning my wrist right now?
