Fashion obsession of the day

I'm a bit too old to be sporting Juicy Couture head to toe, but I kind of love this tee. Sometimes (like today) I just want to get through my day unbothered. This shirt would show 'em. But more than anything, they should make a workout tee with this printed on it. There's nothing I hate more than those creepy old guys chatting me up at the gym. Wow I'm kind of bitter today, huh? I really just wish I could blink my eyes and have it be Friday night. I hope everyone has a fabulous, relaxing weekend (I know I need one after this week).

Fashion obsession of the day

The description on this adorable Free People outfit says "romper," but from the photo you can't tell. I adore the babydoll shape, the buttons and the ease of the shape. It reminds me of those culottes I used to wear when I was a wee little thing. I just love nostalgic pieces made modern, and these baby pink patent leather Mary Jane flats would make this outfit even more like what I wore when I was a girly 7-year-old.

Fashion obsession of the day

Look at this blazer! It's business in the front, sexy in the back. And the sapphire color is just bold enough. Robert Rodriguez has a way of making understatedly sexy pieces.

Fashion obsession of the day

Out of all the fashion investments I've made, the one I'm still needing is the perfect DVF wrap dress. This sunshine yellow minidress is so timeless, so chic. It would be in my closet for decades to come - maybe even passed down to my future daughter.

Beautiful weekend

Can you tell I didn't leave the house this weekend? The only productive thing I did was make vegan butternut squash curry soup - so delish.

Fashion obsession of the day

Right now, I have an unhealthy obsession with finding the perfect pair of oxford shoes. These menswear inspired oxfords from Steve Madden might be the ones. But I can't decide between brown or black. The brown would work well with shorts and casual outfits, while black would be so perfect with skirts and tights. What do you think?

La plus belle

Have a lovely weekend ... this is what I'll be dreaming about.

OMG it's a polka dot jumper. I know I shouldn't like this, but styled right, it could be so cute (I'd pair it with black tights, black booties and minimal gold accessories).

Fashion obsession of the day

Marc by MJ does it again. This pin-up meets garden party flirty frock is adorable and flattering. And it makes me want to twirl until I get dizzy.

Saturday night

... except I'd have a glass of pinot noir and a bag of Baked Lays.

Fashion obsession of the day

Sorry this post is a bit late today - I've been running around like crazy for work. It seems lately I've been posting outrageously expensive and totally gorgeous eye candy on Wednesdays. Guess there's nothing like a lusting over unaffordable fashion to get me through a hump day. This beaded jacket from DVF is totally timeless and would add elegance to any look. In fact, I want this entire outfit (skirt by Blank Denim).

Fashion obsession of the day

Nicole Richie's line of jewelry, House of Harlow, is surprisingly chic and (somewhat) affordable. This bold peacock ring is 14K gold and is the perfect accessory to dress up a t-shirt and jeans or add some sparkle to an LBD.

Beautiful weekend

This weekend was so lazy. On Friday we watched Grey Gardens just in time for its Golden Globes win. Saturday I had lunch with a friend and ate my favorite soup at a cafe right near my apartment - their tomato and artichoke soup with crunchy garlic crostinis is a creamy heaven. Then I went to the grand opening of Anthropologie with some girlfriends and spent way too much money. I wasn't planning on buying this navy and yellow polka dot dress until it fit in a size zero - sold! Sunday I baked brownies, chocolate chip cookies and Parisian macarons (not so successful this time) and watched the Golden Globes awards. I was rooting for Up In The Air, but I guess it wasn't their night. My pick for best dressed? Anna Paquin glowed in her plunging gold paillette dress (although I have to say the shoes were a questionable choice).

Fashion obsession of the day

Normally I frown upon tops that display your navel, but this navy and cream striped top is so flirty and summery. For an adorable casual look, pair it with rolled denim shorts, or tuck it into a curve-hugging mini skirt for a dressier look.

Fashion obsession of the day

Of course now that I'm taking my European vacation, I must get my wardrobe planned. (Before I even book my hotel/hostels - outfits first!) And because March is going to be a bit chilly, I absolutely need a chic coat. I love the high neck and the shorter length of this military-inspired plaid coat. Paired with jeggings and brown riding boots, it's the perfect look for walking the streets of Paris.

J'adore Paris

Guess what? I just booked my flight to Europe last night! I've been to Italy before, but it's been almost 10 years. One of my goals for 2010 was to visit Paris before my 25th birthday, and I'm actually going to do it. It's one thing to talk about it and wish for it, but now it feels so real it's difficult to believe. My brother and I will be going at the end of March for 10 days in London, Paris and Amsterdam. My only plans are to take too many pictures, eat too many pastries and wander. My favorite vacations are when you leave yourself open to adventures, ones without an itinerary, where you get lost with a camera and a map.

Fashion obsession of the day

Here's your totally unaffordable eye candy for Wednesday. This bandage dress from Herve Leger is like a walking work of art, every strategically placed stripe sculpting to your body. I also love the unexpected yellow accessories for a punch of color - an ocean blue would look just as fab.

Excuses, excuses

I hate making excuses. And I hate when the fault is only my own. This weekend I barely picked up my camera. I was lazy and had some car troubles and was just feeling blah. Hopefully this weekend will prove to be much more productive.

Fashion obsession of the day

As one of the perks to being a reporter, I got to take a sneak peek at the new Anthropologie store opening in Rochester this Friday (my story here). So in honor of my excitement - and the gorgeous new January resort catalog - here are some of my favorite pieces. And although I was supposed to be reporting while walking through the store yesterday, I admit I was also strategizing my shopping plan for the grand opening Friday.

(Polka dot bustier dress)

(The coral beading on the waist of this strapless dress is even more gorgeous in person)

(Embroidered sunshine yellow blouse)

(This skirt by Anna Sui is printed with adorable hot air balloons)

(Printed on this silk blouse are tiny tic-tac-toe games)

Fashion obsession of the day

How adorable is this pom pom necklace? And guess what? It's DIY (directions here). It might take a couple hours to complete, but the sense of pride you'll have when it's done will make the necklace that much cuter. I think I already have my Saturday afternoon booked thanks to this.

Happy Friday! My Paris mindset continues with this striped jersey dress from See by ChloƩ. So easy. So Chic. So French. J'adore!

Fashion obsession of the day

The 5 inch cone heel, the floating platform, the Caribbean Sea blue hue. There is everything to love about these suede pumps from Elizabeth and James. They remind me so much of spring, of the first day of the year you can finally wear a skirt without tights, of not huddling near the space heater at your desk. What, you say? It's only January? Sigh. There's a long winter ahead before these gorgeous shoes can make a public appearance.

Fashion obsession of the day

If I could wear a boyfriend blazer every day, I would. I just love their boxy, modern shape. Emblazoned with grommets, this blazer from Aqua is tough and feminine. Paired with black denim leggings and killer leather boots and you've got yourself a sexy bad ass outfit.

Fashion obsession of the day

The only fashion rules I follow are: showing no more than two pieces of skin at once (otherwise an outfit will look slutty) and dress in whatever makes you feel good. All those other "rules" are just plain outdated. Black with brown? Sure. White after Labor Day? Definitely. So wearing this crisp white ruffle shirt during the winter months is no problem.

Fashion obsession of the day

Sadly, the holidays are over. So what does that mean for fashion? Before spring comes ... resort! For all the lucky people who go on fabulous vacations during the winter months, resort collections mean an excuse to wear bright colors and prints, sleeveless tops and strappy sandals. Me? I'll have no such luck this year. But that doesn't mean I can't stock up for summer. This emerald shift dress from Geren Ford can also be incorporated into your winter wardrobe. Tights, boots and a boyfriend blazer and you're good to go.

Beautiful Holiday

I never got around to posting the photos from my holiday, but I love them so much, so here they are (scattered with a few from this past weekend).
